The best time to visit Nainativu is during the dry season (November to April) when the weather is comfortable for boat travel and outdoor exploration. Morning hours are recommended because the weather is cooler and the island is less crowded

How can we arrive?
Nainativu Island can be reached by travelling to Kurikkaduwan Jetty near Jaffna and taking a ferry service to the island. Visitors can travel from Jaffna town to Kurikkaduwan Jetty by bus, train (up to Jaffna Railway Station), or private vehicle. The ferry ride offers a beautiful view of the Jaffna lagoon and takes visitors directly to Nainativu Island.

From Jaffna town, take a bus to Kurikkaduwan (Kurikadduvan) Jetty.
From there, visitors can take a ferry to Nainativu Island.
By Train
Take a train to Jaffna Railway Station.
From Jaffna, continue by bus, taxi, or private vehicle to Kurikkaduwan Jetty and take the ferry to the island.
