Overview

Pilkington Point is a beautiful mountain viewpoint located in the Poonagala area of Badulla District, Uva Province, Sri Lanka. Situated at around 1,400 metres above sea level, the viewpoint offers spectacular panoramic views of green tea estates, valleys, mountains, and the surrounding lowlands.

The viewpoint is named after Sir George Pilkington, who was the first manager of the Poonagalla Group and used the location to observe the surrounding tea estates. On a clear day, visitors can see towards Wellawaya and Monaragala, along with distant landscapes.

Pilkington Point is an excellent destination for nature lovers, hikers, photographers, and travelers looking for peaceful mountain scenery.

By Bus

Travel to Poonagala and continue towards Pilkington Point by tuk-tuk or taxi.

By Train

Travel by train to Haputale Railway Station or Bandarawela Railway Station, then continue towards Poonagala by taxi, tuk-tuk, or local transport.

By Private Vehicle

Drive towards Bandarawela → Poonagala → Pilkington Point. The final section follows a scenic road through tea estates, and visitors can either walk or drive closer to the viewpoint depending on road conditions.
