Narangala Peak – The Golden Mountain of Uva
Narangala is said to be the best destination for hiking in the Badulla district, and indeed it is a place to visit for adventure lovers. This place is known as the ‘Golden Peak,’ and this is because of the golden grass found in this area. Hike up to this destination and enjoy the 360-degree view of the province of Uva from here. It is approximately 20km from Badulla Town.
The best time for hiking Narangala is early morning so that the beautiful sunrise can be witnessed. The difficulty level is moderate and suitable for campers who want to camp overnight amidst the stars.

Madolsima Mini World's End – Camping Above the Clouds
Madolsima is quickly emerging as the most popular holiday destination in the Badulla district, renowned for its breathtaking “Sea of Clouds.” Sitting on the fringes of the central highlands, the Pitamaruwal Mini World’s End has a sheer drop that gives way to a breathtaking view of the Eastern Plains of Sri Lanka.
It’s one of the most popular spots for camping, where one can experience the ‘magical’ sunrise over the sea of mist. It’s a wonderful trek to the point itself, with tea gardens to marvel at, as well as pretty roads to travel. It’s definitely not a trekking spot, as one would need to experience nature as well as the adrenaline pump of the view.

Namunukula – The Highest Peak of Uva
Namunukala stands at 2,036 meters and is the highest mountain range in the Uva Province. For adventure seekers seeking a hiking experience, this is one of the best places to be. Namunukala is named so because it consists of “Nine Peaks,” and from here, one gets a 360-degree view that reaches the southern and eastern coastlines.
The trail will expose you to various landscapes from the beautiful Spring Valley tea estates to more dense cloud forests. It is a biodiverse hot spot and a real wilderness experience compared to some of the more popular trails.
