Devon Falls
Overview
Nature has bestowed this world with wonders, one of which is the Devon Falls, which cascades like a milky white veil down the green tea plantations of the central hills. Its repute for its delicate and slender shape has earned it the epithet "Veil of the Valley". Gracing the top in the list of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sri Lanka is this 97-meter or 318-foot high waterfall. Special about it is that it falls down in several parts in a tiered formation.
The name "Devon" has a historical origin. The waterfall was named "Devon", for its pioneering English planter in the colonial period, who opened up this area for coffee cultivation. Even today, the waterfall is surrounded by rich tea plantations. A tourist traveling from Hatton to Nuwara Eliya could enjoy this eye-catching view from the roadside and relax.
