How can we arrive?
Wilpattu National Park can be reached from Anuradhapura, Puttalam, or nearby towns by road. Anuradhapura is one of the most convenient bases for travellers visiting the park. Since the park itself is a large wildlife area, visitors normally travel to the entrance first and then continue inside the park with an authorised safari vehicle.
By Bus
Public buses can be used to travel from Anuradhapura or nearby towns towards areas close to Wilpattu National Park.
However, buses do not provide direct access to the safari areas inside the park.
By Train
Visitors travelling by train can reach Anuradhapura or Puttalam and then continue the journey by road.
From the railway station, a taxi or other private transport can be arranged to reach the park entrance.
